The 27 Month Refit

 

An extensive refit, over a two-year period (2010-2011), has given a second wind and has

raised the standards of S/Y ‘Aello’. Among works undertaken, the following jobs were completed:

Deck

  • Removal of masts, repairs, replacement offoundations, varnishing
  • Installation of hawse pipes port and starboard for easier operation of the anchors which previously had to be hand-lifted onboard the deck
  • Total renewal of rubber channels on the deck
  • Refurbishing of lighting system on deck and navigational lighting system
  • Refurnishing of entertainment system on deck (discrete speakers)

Hull

  • Complete stripping of the interior of the vessel followed by extensive repairs on the steel rames of the structure, renewal of most of the bolts securing the wood hull planking to the steel frames.
  • Repainting of frames with epoxy paints
  • Repainting of wooden planking internally with water resistant paints
  • Chipping and painting of forecastle including chain locker
  • Stern space chipped and painted with water resistant paints
  • External hull extensive treatment and repainting
  • New design and installation of cathodic protection system

Electrical & Navigational systems

  • Complete renewal and replacement of electrical systems on board, including new wiring, new switchboards, and new equipment throughout
  • Complete renewal and replacement of navigational and communications equipment with state-of-the-art equipment for international navigation

Mechanical

  • Installation of new engine, Cummins QSL9-M / 325 BHP, in order to achieve lower consumption,less noise and vibration, and less weight
  • Installation of new shaft and new propeller
  • Installation of new sewage system complying with latest international and national regulations
  • Fabrication and installation of new stainless steel tanks for fresh water, fuel, and sewage tanks
  • New piping fitted onboard, throughout (water,sewage, fuel)
  • Redesigning of engine room for better
    access and safety

 

Accommodation

  • Complete refurbishment of galley that now boasts a modern oven, microwave, four new fridges and a dishwasher.
  • Full refurbishment of heads with Lalique bathroom items
  • Additional cabin fitted bringing total number of guest capacity from 6 to 8 persons. What was previously an office/navigationroom has been converted to a double cabin increasing the number of guests onboard.
  • Refurbishment of crew accommodation
  • Fitting of washing machine and dryer
  • New entertainment equipment fitted (DVD players, Satellite TV, andipod socket)
  • Full varnishing throughout the interior of the yacht
  • Installation of new (bronze) fittings throughout
